Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix cake mix, eggs, and melted butter until thick and brownie-like. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine coconut, sweetened condensed milk, and almond extract. Spread evenly over the cake base.
  4. Melt chocolate chips with heavy cream until smooth. Spread over the coconut layer.
  5. Sprinkle sliced almonds over the chocolate topping.
  6. Bake for 25–28 minutes, until bars are set but soft. Cool completely for at least 1 hour before slicing.
  7. Optional: Drizzle with extra melted chocolate and garnish with more almonds or coconut shreds.

Notes

  • Use dark chocolate chips for a less sweet topping.
  • Add chopped toasted almonds to the coconut layer for extra texture.
  • Swap almond extract for vanilla if preferred.
  • Use mini chocolate chips on top for a smoother finish.
  • Cool fully before slicing to ensure clean layers.
