Ingredients

  • 6 large croissants, preferably day-old, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Place half of the croissant pieces evenly in the prepared dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of blueberries over the croissants. Add the remaining croissant pieces on top, followed by the remaining blueberries.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the sugar and mix until incorporated. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and milk. Mix until the custard is smooth.
  4. Pour the cream cheese mixture evenly over the croissants and blueberries. Gently press down with a spoon to help the bread absorb the custard.
  5. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. When ready to bake, uncover the dish and bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
  7. Let the bake rest for 10 minutes before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Use day-old croissants for best texture and custard absorption.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
  • Swap blueberries for other berries like raspberries or blackberries.
  • Optional: add lemon zest or sliced almonds for extra flavor and texture.
  • Best enjoyed warm; reheat gently in microwave or oven.
