Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
  • 1/4 cup additional chopped pecans for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Fold in toasted pecans gently.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool for 10 minutes, then poke holes across the surface using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  7. Slowly drizzle caramel sauce over the warm cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. Let cool completely.
  8. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  9. Spread whipped cream evenly over cooled cake and sprinkle with additional pecans.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
