Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place bread halves cut-side up on the baking sheet. Brush evenly with the garlic butter mixture.
  4. Top with mozzarella, then cheddar, then Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden, crisp top, watching closely.
  7. Remove from oven, garnish with parsley, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy version.
  • Swap in other cheeses like provolone or Monterey Jack for variety.
  • Top with olives or bell peppers for extra flavor and color.
  • Prepare ahead and refrigerate before baking if needed.
  • Best reheated in the oven, not the microwave, to retain texture.
