Ingredients

  • 12 oz block-style cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 68 cups cubed angel food cake or pound cake (optional, for base)
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling, or homemade cherry topping

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually add milk and beat until fully incorporated and light in texture.
  3. If using a base layer, place cubed cake into a 9×13 inch dish or trifle dish to form an even layer.
  4. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the base layer.
  5. Spoon the cherry pie filling on top of the cream layer and spread evenly.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours, or overnight for best results.
  7. Slice and serve chilled. Optional: garnish with whipped topping or extra cherries.

Notes

  • Use block-style full-fat cream cheese for the best texture and structure.
  • Homemade cherry topping can be made with fresh cherries, sugar, and cornstarch.
  • For individual servings, layer the dessert in cups or jars instead of a large dish.
  • This dessert is best enjoyed within 2–3 days of preparation.
