Ingredients

  • 14 cloves garlic, divided
  • 4 medium chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh thyme, parsley, or chives, for serving

Instructions

  1. Finely mince 2 garlic cloves and leave the remaining cloves whole or lightly smashed.
  2. Pat chicken breasts dry and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Lightly coat with flour.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Sear chicken for 8–10 minutes until golden. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add remaining butter and olive oil to the skillet. Cook whole garlic cloves for about 5 minutes until softened.
  6. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Pour in white wine and scrape up browned bits. Add chicken stock and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Stir in whipping cream and return chicken to the skillet.
  9. Simmer for 5–8 minutes until sauce thickens and chicken is fully cooked.
  10. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  11. Garnish with herbs and serve hot.

  • Replace white wine with extra chicken stock for a non-alcohol version.
