Ingredients

  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Sour cream or ranch dressing, for topping (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, red bell pepper, green onions, shredded cheese, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Place a tablespoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold into a triangle and seal edges with water.
  4. Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Transfer to paper towels or a wire rack to drain and cool slightly.
  6. Serve warm with sour cream, ranch, or fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overfill wontons to prevent bursting during frying.
  • Bake or air fry for a lighter alternative to deep frying.
  • Prep the filling in advance and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
  • Let fried wontons rest on a wire rack to stay crispy.
  • Try spicy mayo, chili sauce, or teriyaki drizzle as alternative toppings.
