Ingredients

  • 2 flatbreads, 6 to 8 inches in diameter
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
  • 1 large tomato, thinly sliced
  • 113 grams (4 ounces) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 8 fresh basil leaves, plus more for serving
  • 2 pinches dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Place the flatbreads on a baking sheet and brush them evenly with olive oil.
  3. Layer the sliced tomatoes over the flatbreads, followed by the mozzarella and basil leaves.
  4. Sprinkle with dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly golden, and the flatbread is crisp.
  6. Remove from the oven, drizzle with a little extra olive oil, and garnish with more fresh basil.
  7. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thin tomato slices to prevent sogginess.
  • Swap in pizza sauce or pesto as the base for more variety.
  • Great with additional toppings like bell peppers, onions, or mushrooms.
  • Reheat in the oven for best texture; avoid microwaving.
