Ingredients

  • 1 cup gluten-free 1-to-1 baking flour (or regular all-purpose flour)
  • 1/3 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other milk of choice)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Optional Glazes:

  • Chocolate Glaze: 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon melted coconut oil, 1–2 teaspoons unsweetened milk
  • Vanilla Glaze: 1/4 cup organic powdered sugar, 1–2 teaspoons unsweetened milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add maple syrup, olive oil, almond milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and well combined — do not overmix.
  4. Transfer batter to a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner cut off and pipe into the donut cavities, filling each about 2/3 full.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let donuts cool in the pan briefly, then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  7. Prepare glaze of choice by whisking ingredients until smooth. Dip cooled donuts in glaze, let excess drip off, and place back on rack to set.
  8. Decorate with sprinkles if desired. Enjoy immediately or store for later.

Notes

  • Use flax egg for a vegan version (1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 3 tbsp water).
  • Store donuts unglazed for longer freshness; glaze just before serving if possible.
  • Adjust glaze consistency with more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
  • Donuts can be made in mini muffin tins if you don’t have a donut pan.
  • Try flavored protein powders and different glazes for variety.
