Ingredients

  • 400 g penne pasta
  • 500 g raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (480 ml) milk
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cooking cream
  • 1½ cups (170 g) grated mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 3 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  2. Cook penne until al dente, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
  4. Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, and cook for 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, stir in flour for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, stirring until smooth and thickened.
  6. Add Italian seasoning and red chili flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Stir in half the mozzarella and all the Parmesan until melted.
  8. Add pasta and shrimp, mix to coat evenly.
  9. Transfer to baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve.
