Ingredients

  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 1/4 cups (250 g) light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups (425 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth and glossy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula, mixing just until combined.
  5. Gently fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop large portions of dough (about 1/3 cup each) and place them apart on baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until edges are golden and centers slightly underbaked.
  10. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For added crunch, mix in chopped nuts.
  • Use dark chocolate chunks for deeper chocolate flavor.
  • Reduce baking time by 2–3 minutes for smaller cookies.
  • To keep cookies gooey, reheat briefly in microwave before serving.
  • Dough can be made up to 48 hours in advance and chilled.
