Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 medium jalapenos, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder until well combined.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into 2-inch wide strips.
  4. Spoon some filling onto one half of each strip. Fold the pastry over and press the edges to seal.
  5. Twist each sealed strip into a spiral shape and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Brush each twist with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fewer jalapenos or remove seeds for less heat.
  • Ensure pastry edges are sealed well to prevent leaking.
  • Twists can be assembled and frozen before baking for make-ahead convenience.
  • Reheat leftovers in the oven for best texture.
  • Try pickled jalapenos for a tangier flavor and milder heat.
