Ingredients

  • For the Meatballs:
  • 500 g ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil (for frying)
  • For the Mashed Potatoes:
  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • For the Steamed Vegetables:
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 large carrots, peeled and sliced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatballs: In a bowl, mix ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, parsley, salt, pepper, and paprika. Form into 1-inch balls.
  2. Cook the Meatballs: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches for 8–10 minutes until browned and fully cooked. Set aside.
  3. Make the Mashed Potatoes: Boil potatoes in salted water for 15–20 minutes until tender. Drain and mash with butter and warm milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Steam the Vegetables: Steam broccoli and carrots for 5–7 minutes until tender but bright. Toss with butter or olive oil if desired.
  5. Serve: Plate mashed potatoes with meatballs on top and steamed vegetables on the side. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Add tomato or mushroom sauce for richer flavor.
  • Use turkey or chicken for leaner meatballs.
  • Broil meatballs briefly for extra crispiness.
  • Don’t overmix meatball mixture — it keeps them tender.
  • Mashed potatoes can be flavored with garlic or herbs.
