Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 150 g mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, spinach, garlic, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Take a portion of the mixture and flatten it slightly in your hand.
  3. Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and wrap the meat around it, sealing completely to form a ball.
  4. Repeat until all mixture is used.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  6. Cook meatballs in batches for 6–8 minutes, turning to brown all sides.
  7. Pour tomato sauce over the browned meatballs.
  8. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until fully cooked.
  9. Serve hot with sauce.

Notes

  • Do not overmix meat to keep meatballs tender.
  • Seal cheese well to prevent leakage.
  • You can bake instead of frying at 200°C for 20–25 minutes.
  • Use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version.
  • Freeze cooked meatballs for up to 2 months.
