Ingredients

  • 10 tablespoons butter, room temperature, divided
  • 1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1¾ cups powdered sugar
  • 1½ cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Line an 8-inch or 9-inch square baking pan with foil or parchment paper and lightly coat with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together 5 tablespoons of butter, graham cracker crumbs, and powdered sugar until smooth and well combined.
  3. Stir in the peanut butter until the mixture forms a thick, cohesive filling.
  4. Press the peanut butter mixture evenly into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and the remaining 5 tablespoons of butter. Heat for 1 minute, stir, then continue heating in 30-second intervals until melted and smooth.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly.
  7. Refrigerate until firm, at least 3 hours or overnight.
  8. Before serving, let the bars stand at room temperature for about 10 minutes to make slicing easier. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use crunchy peanut butter for added texture.
  • Add crushed peanuts or flaky sea salt on top before chilling for a finishing touch.
  • Substitute almond or sunflower butter for a peanut-free version.
  • Use gluten-free graham crackers for a gluten-free treat.
  • Bars are best served chilled but can sit out for about an hour at room temperature.
