Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup (75 g) butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (185 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (85 g) mini chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth. Stir in melted butter.
  3. Add sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined.
  4. Stir in flour until just incorporated.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle extra chips on top if desired.
  6. Bake 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Swap half the sugar with brown sugar for richer flavor.
  • Add walnuts or pecans for crunch.
  • Mix in cinnamon or nutmeg for warmth.
  • Turn into muffins (bake 18–20 minutes).
