Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (or thin-sliced steak)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 large bell pepper (green or mixed), diced
  • 8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese, cubed
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: mushrooms or extra veggies, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion, bell pepper, and garlic (if using). Sauté until softened, about 4–5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef (or sliced steak) to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  4. Stir in cream cheese until melted and fully incorporated into the beef and veggie mixture.
  5. Transfer mixture to an oven-safe baking dish (or use an oven-proof skillet). Spread evenly.
  6. Layer provolone slices evenly over the top.

  8. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
