  • 75 g grated cheddar cheese (or cheese of choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) or 180°C fan. Line a baking tray with parchment.
  2. Unroll pastry and spread pesto evenly over the surface.
  3. Sprinkle grated cheese over pesto in an even layer.
  4. Cut pastry into strips about 2 cm wide (10–12 strips).
  5. Twist each strip gently several times and place on baking tray.
  6. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Chill twisted strips before baking if they tend to unravel.
  • For vegan version, use plant-based puff pastry, pesto, and cheese.
  • Try red pesto, different cheeses, or add herbs like oregano for variation.
  • Make sweet twists with chocolate spread or cinnamon sugar instead.
  • Freeze baked twists up to 1 month; reheat in oven before serving.
