Ingredients

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Purple gel food coloring (to desired shade)
  • ½ cup Halloween sprinkles
  • About 30 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  1. Preheat: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in egg and vanilla extract until smooth, then add purple food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  5. Combine: Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and press tops into Halloween sprinkles to coat.
  7. Bake: Place dough balls 2 inches apart on baking sheets, sprinkle-side up. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.
  8. Top with Kisses: Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie after removing from the oven.
  9. Cool: Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for bold, vibrant color without altering dough consistency.
  • Do not overbake—the cookies should stay soft and chewy.
  • The Hershey’s Kiss will soften after pressing but will firm up as the cookies cool.
  • Try different Hershey’s Kiss flavors for fun variations like dark chocolate or cookies ‘n’ creme.
