Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 12 slices white sandwich bread
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese or provolone cheese
  • 300 g deli-sliced turkey breast
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting
  • 1/3 cup raspberry jam, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter, spreading evenly.
  3. Lay 4 slices of bread on a clean surface. Add one slice of cheese and a layer of turkey to each.

  5. Top with another slice of cheese and finish each with a final slice of bread.
  6. Press each sandwich gently to hold together.
  7. Quickly dip both sides of each sandwich in the egg mixture.
  8. Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from skillet, slice if desired, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm with raspberry jam.

Notes

  • Use brioche or challah for a richer texture.
  • Try cheddar or mozzarella for different flavor profiles.
  • Add mustard for extra tang.
  • Skip powdered sugar for a fully savory version.
