Ingredients

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cake flour)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

¼ teaspoon baking powder

A pinch of salt

2 tablespoons melted butter

3 tablespoons milk (any kind)

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: 1 tablespoon sprinkles (or chocolate chips, Nutella swirl)

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe mug, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and ensure the batter reaches the bottom of the mug.
  3. Fold in sprinkles or desired mix-ins, if using.
  4. Microwave on high for 70–90 seconds, stopping when the cake is still slightly glossy on top.
  5. Allow the cake to rest in the mug for 1 minute to finish cooking, then enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Substitute cake flour for a lighter, more tender crumb.
  • Customize with mix-ins like chocolate chips, Nutella, nut butter, nuts, coconut, or cinnamon.
  • For a lighter version, use skim milk, reduce sugar, or replace butter with applesauce or coconut oil.
  • Make it dairy-free by using almond or soy milk and dairy-free butter or oil.
  • For gluten-free, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend and adjust moisture if needed.
