Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 wheel brie (about 8 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for dusting)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook apples for 5–7 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in maple syrup and cinnamon, cook 1 more minute, then cool slightly.
  4. Lightly flour a surface and roll out puff pastry.
  5. Place brie in the center and top with cooked apples and optional nuts.
  6. Fold pastry over the brie and seal edges well.
  7. Place seam-side down on baking sheet.
  8. Brush with egg mixed with water.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm.
