Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup whole milk (for slurry)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 oz dark chocolate (at least 60% cocoa), finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat 2 cups of milk with sugar over medium heat until steaming and sugar is dissolved (do not boil).
  2. Add chopped dark chocolate and stir until fully melted and smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk cornstarch with 1/4 cup milk until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan while whisking constantly.
  5. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring continuously, for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Pour into serving cups and cover with plastic wrap directly on the surface.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.
  9. Serve chilled with desired toppings.
