Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed.
  4. Fold in diced apples evenly.
  5. Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) in a deep pan.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of batter into oil and fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
  9. Dip or drizzle glaze over warm fritters.
  10. Let glaze set slightly and serve.
