  • 2 boxes Kraft Original Macaroni and Cheese
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • Cheese sauce packets from both boxes
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • Pinch of chili powder
  • 1–2 cups grated American cheese
  • 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter (for crackers)
  • Black pepper for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil macaroni noodles according to package instructions, then drain and return to pot.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter with evaporated milk over low heat.
  3. Add onion powder, garlic powder, white pepper, and chili powder.
  4. Whisk in cheese sauce packets until smooth.
  5. Add heavy cream and stir until creamy.
  6. Pour cheese sauce over noodles and mix well.
  7. Stir in most of the American cheese until melted.
  8. Transfer to baking dish if baking.
  9. Mix melted butter with crushed Ritz crackers and sprinkle on top with remaining cheese.
  10. Bake at 375°F for 10–12 minutes until topping is golden, or serve stovetop if preferred.

Notes

  • Use low heat when making sauce to avoid graininess.
  • American cheese gives the smoothest texture.
  • Evaporated milk adds richness without thinning the sauce.
  • Cracker topping is optional but adds crunch.
  • Can be served baked or stovetop style.
