Ingredients

  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 4 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles in salted boiling water according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced onions and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the cabbage, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook over medium-low heat for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is soft and caramelized.
  6. If using paprika, stir it in during the last few minutes of cooking.
  7. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss to combine.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, then serve warm.
