Ingredients

  • 500 g yellow wax beans, trimmed and cut into 3 cm pieces
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 500 ml water or vegetable broth
  • 150 ml sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Wash, trim, and cut the yellow wax beans into even pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat and sauté chopped onion for about 5 minutes until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add beans, bay leaf, salt, and pepper, then pour in water or broth to cover.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes until beans are tender.
  6. In a bowl, mix flour and paprika, then whisk in a ladle of hot liquid to form a smooth paste.
  7. Slowly stir the mixture back into the pot and simmer for 5–7 minutes to thicken.
  8. Reduce heat and stir in sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  9. Add vinegar and sugar, adjust seasoning, and remove bay leaf.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Mix flour with hot liquid first to avoid lumps.
  • Do not boil after adding sour cream to prevent curdling.
  • Adjust vinegar and sugar for balanced flavor.
  • Green beans can be used as a substitute.
  • Best served fresh but reheats well.
