Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • Flour for dusting
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bunch fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for drizzling
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional)
  • 1/2 cup artichoke hearts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sliced black or green olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/4 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/2 cup spinach leaves (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sliced mortadella (optional)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled gorgonzola or feta cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the pizza dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Use a round cookie cutter or glass to cut the dough into 3-inch circles.
  4. Transfer the dough circles to the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  5. Spread a spoonful of tomato sauce onto each dough round, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  7. Add desired toppings, being careful not to overload the pizzettas.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and drizzle lightly with olive oil.
  10. Top with fresh basil leaves and serve warm.

Notes

  • Store-bought pizza dough works perfectly for quick preparation.
  • Avoid using too much sauce to keep the crust crispy.
  • You can use puff pastry instead of pizza dough for a flakier texture.
  • Freeze unbaked pizzettas for easy future meals.
  • Reheat in the oven instead of the microwave for the best texture.
  • Customize with vegetables, cheeses, or meats to suit your taste.
