Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni (about 8 ounces)
  • 2 cans baked beans in sauce (28 ounces each)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 2 cups whole milk or 2% milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 1 cup cooked ground beef
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. Spread uncooked elbow macaroni evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Mix milk and Worcestershire sauce together, then pour over pasta.
  4. Spread baked beans evenly over the macaroni.
  5. Top with 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese.
  6. Pour milk mixture evenly over the dish and press pasta down slightly.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Stir and check pasta tenderness, baking another 10 minutes if needed.
  9. Remove foil, add remaining cheese, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Pasta cooks directly in the sauce—no pre-boiling needed.
  • Add extra milk if mixture becomes too thick during baking.
  • Ground beef or sausage can make it more filling.
  • Letting it rest improves texture and creaminess.
  • Great for feeding a crowd on a budget.
