Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the potatoes and apples into thin, even pieces. Finely chop the onion.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together milk, heavy cream, melted butter, flour, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  3. Lightly grease the slow cooker.
  4. Layer potatoes on the bottom, followed by apples, onion, and a sprinkle of cheese.
  5. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  6. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layers.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours until potatoes are tender.
  8. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
