Ingredients

  • 2 pounds halal beef, lamb, or chicken sausages (about 8 links)
  • 3 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons halal Worcestershire-style sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Place sliced onions evenly in the bottom of a slow cooker.
  2. Optional: Brown sausages in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side for extra flavor.
  3. Place sausages over the onions in the slow cooker.
  4. Mix beef stock with Worcestershire-style sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Pour the liquid mixture over the sausages and onions.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until sausages are cooked through and onions are very soft.
  7. For thicker gravy, remove lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  8. Serve hot, topped with onions, gravy, and optional parsley.

Notes

  • Browning sausages first enhances flavor but is optional.
  • Onions naturally create a rich gravy as they break down during slow cooking.
  • Add sliced mushrooms or potatoes for a heartier dish.
  • Adjust seasoning at the end for best flavor balance.
  • Best served with mashed potatoes, rice, or bread.
