Ingredients

  • 2 cans (21 ounces each) strawberry pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, chopped (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. If using fresh strawberries, stir them into the filling.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the strawberry filling without stirring.
  6. Slowly drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, covering as much dry mix as possible.
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or additional fresh strawberries if desired.

Notes

  • Use strawberry cake mix for extra strawberry flavor.
  • White or lemon cake mix also works well.
  • Add blueberries or raspberries for a mixed berry variation.
  • Sprinkle chopped pecans or almonds on top for added crunch.
  • To avoid dry patches, distribute the butter evenly over the cake mix.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat individual servings in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
  • The cake can be frozen for up to 2 months after cooling completely.
