Baked Tofu is a simple oven-baked plant-based dish made with extra-firm tofu coated in a sweet, smoky, and tangy glaze. It develops crispy edges and a chewy texture, making it perfect for bowls, salads, wraps, or snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 block extra-firm tofu (12–14 oz / 350–400 g)
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Drain tofu and pat dry, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Whisk ketchup, maple syrup, soy sauce, sriracha, sesame oil, garlic, and pepper to make the glaze.
  4. Toss tofu in the glaze until evenly coated.
  5. Arrange tofu in a single layer on the baking tray.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, then flip and brush with extra glaze.
  7. Bake another 20 minutes until caramelized and crispy on the edges.
  8. Brush with remaining glaze and serve.

Notes

  • No pressing is required for this recipe.
  • Use a metal tray for better caramelization.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan for crispier tofu.
  • Adjust spice level by changing sriracha amount.
  • Best served fresh but also good for meal prep.
